UEFA REGIONS CUP TRIAL MATCH 17th FEBRUARY - SQUAD

Postby eastside footy fan » Mon Feb 08, 2010 7:46 pm

I've just viewed the West Wales site and saw who has been selected from their clubs for trial for the WW Squad this year. I'm really shocked not to see Kyle Morgan's name again this year as he's arguably the most talented player in Swansea Senior League.(Only my opinion). Cannot understand that one boys!!! 5 from Ragged but not Kyle. Anyone who has seen this kid play will definately agree!

NIce to see Jamie Breen in there this year. Got to be the 2 Jamie's up front??

eff i to think kyle would fit into a squad like this as he is a really gifted player, its just a shame the squad selectors are not watching him on a regular basis because if they had taken any notice of a game hes played in then they would not have been able to ignore the talent he posseses. very pleased to see bonymaens keeper in the list as i think he is the best in the league, maybe a bit biast as i watch bonymaen regular but ive seen him keep bonymaen in games for many years now. carl moocha and ray alli will be a good partnership in midfield.

the reason ive been told that kyle isnt selected is because he is too young, apparently they think hes 19 and doesnt reach the criteria or so ive been told but he is infact 20,theres no doubting kyles ability his goal return speaks for itself (17 goals from midfeild last year) and in double figures this season allready so hes obviously one of the top midfeilders in the ssl unless anyone cant point out any midfeilders with a better goal return.

From what i gather unless you have a so called reputation already, getting picked is almost impossible. Just my opinion of course, buh clearly kyle with his goal return being mentioned is clear proof of that! What's age got to do with it? If you are good enough, then you are old enough again just my opinion! Boy in the middle of the park for olympic quite young i believe, seen him a few times in div 1 this year definitely worth a go in the trial match atleast! 1 other player i feel deserves a shot division 2 or not would be goalkeeper from CRC! Who actually picks the squad? Do they put the time in to watch players or like i have stated pick on reputation and youngsters coming through good enough or not will just have to wait!!!

i dont know how much time connie takes out to watch these players as he is involved with the management of ragged school so i wonder if he picks the team on reputation also. kyle is over 16 that is all that sould matter he is a senior player and a very good one. i would recomend andrew allen for selection from bonymaen he is a real talented player who wins alot of ball and can carry a ball very well but i spose you have to pick a squad of players that you think will fit in together and also winch wen have a good left back who likes to play football but we cud talk allday about who could be picked, results will talk and hopefully we do well

Anybody that was eligible last season is eligible to play, that is why Walshy, Jamie Bowen and the two South Gower players are able to trial.

It is always great when these games come about as it always provides great topic for everyone to discuss

It must be extremely hard to pick this squad as there are alot of quality players out there and there will always be some unlucky people not selected. Already there have been so many top players mentioned who havew not been picked but i wonder who do people feel will be key players out of the ones who have been seleced for the trial match, if you could pick two players who you think which could be the key players who would you pick?

there are so many quality players that have been choosen and hard to pick to but i think brian sparks will be one as ive stated before ive watched him keep bonymaen in games for many years and think he is a class act, the best in the swansea league (i dont watch any other local league) and 2nd i'd pick carl moocha this boy is quik has a good touch and scores goals when given just half a chance. really looking forward to seeing how these players do in the trials

would agree with most in that selection, a few im not sso sure about!! shame grovesy is injured tbh, good to see the welsh league boys get a look in, although with the amount of games they have to play...can they cope?? would love to see the south gower sweeper in there, watched him a few timess last year, hess the quickest thing ive seen in years, am led to believe hes speedys nephew??? we could go on all day about who should be in there...but i feel that squad is good enough to beat anyone!!! i am really looking forward to the trial match, will be good to see swansea's elite play each other!!

Interesting Squad, but no Pembroke or Neath players ? Anyway I am glad the lad Sparkes from Bonymaen has a chance as I saw him against Ragged this year & he gave an excellent performance, only hope now this match does nt get to him, for if I remember right he played up in Briton Ferry 2 years ago & the occasion did get to him big time. That is something that sometimes happens players taken & put in teams with strangers do not perform, it happens that you sometimes Freeze, easy to talk but it's true.
It is a pity that the rules of the competion are not on the West Wales Web site, this would then clear up a lot of the debate mentioned previously.
I see Seaside have seven players & Ragged four so will be interesting who they pick.
I would say in Connies defence, now he runs Ragged he has seen virtually all the 1st Div players this year, & has put new faces in there. Stebo is a big pitch so I think all the players picked in midfield will have to be very fit, what I can see is there are a lot of very good passes of the ball but not many good runners who can go up & down, although the boy Ali did very well last year Fit lad, we ll have to see.
The forwards they have picked are the best around without doubt, problem is who best Suits each other, noticed the young boy from Press misses out, so I think they have already made up there minds who ll they ll play, as Jammie Breen & Jammie Bowen are class players with proven goal scoring records, if it s goals they want then they re their men.
Benomi & Hopkins too maybe a pair, the Benomi is one hard working guy with Welsh league experience who I watched at Briton Ferry, the other a good player also, but really looking forward to see the Cream of the Carmathenshire league perform.
Boy kyle Morgan, if they have his date of birth wrong they should re check it, surely Connie only has to phone the Dockers Sec, or has he just not picked him but that boy mucha also plays wide so who knows.
If I am right this competion is over 2 years, then obviously they can play people who was available last year, so why are nt the West End players eligable, or were they not last year, pheraps that would be cleared up as well.

mark, on brian sparkes i dont think he will let the occasion get to him, he played at the liberty stadium last season and did superb, went to north wales in the quarter finals of welsh cup the season before and did superb there also. i dont know him on a personal level but watch him regular and i think hes go enough experiance and talent to make the no. 1 jersey his for the west wales squad this year. ive also heard through the grape vine hes had a few training sessions with a proffesional club this season, i dont think it is for a contract as its a huge step maybe he knows someone? can bonymaen jack update us on this

West End had a team in the 2nd division of the swansea league last year so the boys who played in that who now maybe playing in the Welsh league reserve division should be eligable for selection do you agree ?

while west end had a team in the swansea league they were not eligable to play in any cup competitions so im guessing this rule applies to this "tournament style competition". but as i stated earlier im not 100% on this

To everyone;

No matter what is said on this forum the squad is picked,
there may be a chance for someone due to players not
turning up for the trial match or players being injured.

Otherwise; Can I take this oppurtunity to wish everyone
involved the best of luck, with the talent you have throughout
the squad you should be able to give anyone a good game.

Hats off to Bob Waygood and West Wales committee.

Connie did initially pick Kyle but was informed by Bob that he was 2 weeks to young to br considered for a trial. I spoke to Bob on Saturday and he explained that when the tournament first started, Kyle hadn't turned 19, so under uefa rules he couldn't play.
However, since then our secretary Steve Draper has received a phone call from Mr Waygood who has contacted uefa to clarify these rules, and he was informed that there has been some changes to the rules, resulting in Kyle now being able to trial and play (if selected) for the squad. He has now been added to the list on the WW site.

I believe he has an excellent chance of making the squad as i think he is a great talent, especially at this level. Mind you, he's not 100% fit, and Stebo maybe a big ask for 90 mins from him, but whatever part he plays, he'll definately make an impact and a large contribution. Anyone that has seen him play, i think will agree!

All the best to all in the trials, especially to our own Clarkey, Ray & Kyle.

connie obviously likes kyle as a player because it seems he's gone out of his way to get permission to use him, i think hes got a great chance of getting in this squad. now for the trial match is it an actuall match against another team if so who are they playing?
